About this place
Keino Matsubara is a pine grove from Matsuho Kotsuji to Matsuho Keino in Minamiawaji, Hyogo Prefecture, on the west side of Awaji Island facing Harima-nada. It is a nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty. It is a scenic spot with about 50,000 black pine trees spreading over about 2.5 km of sandy beach on the north side of the Mihara River mouth. Within the pine grove, which shows a variety of branch forms, a promenade named 'Propose Kaido' (Proposal Road), made lavish use of the local specialty Awaji roof tiles, was developed in 1997 (Heisei 9). The sunset sinking into Harima-nada and the view of Shodoshima floating far offshore are also beautiful.
