About this place
A puppet theater in Fukura, Minamiawaji, that stages Awaji Ningyo Joruri, a nationally designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. Carrying on the tradition from the Edo period, it is performed by three performers as one: the puppeteer, the chanter, and the shamisen player. Performances are 45 minutes each at 10:00, 11:10, 13:30, and 15:00. Fees are 1,800 yen for adults, 1,300 yen for junior and senior high school students, and 1,000 yen for elementary school students; closed on Wednesdays.
