About this place
A Soto Zen temple in Ishikawa Prefecture, known as an old temple. It was founded in 1321 (Genko 1) by Zen master Keizan Jokin as a head temple of the Soto school. A great fire in 1898 (Meiji 31) burned down the grounds, and the head temple moved in 1910 (Meiji 43) to Tsurumi, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, leaving this as the Soin; the rebuilt mountain gate made entirely of zelkova, along with the Buddha hall and lecture hall, remain.
