About this place
A teahouse district in Higashiyama, Kanazawa. An old townscape of lattice fronts and stone pavement, it has been selected as a nationally Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. Shops of Japanese sweets and crafts and cafes line the street. The teahouse buildings Shima and Kaikaro can be toured, and at Kaikaro you can see tea rooms with tatami woven with gold leaf and more.
