Overview
One of Kanazawa's three geisha quarters. Narrow lanes and fine lattice run on; a preservation district of traditional buildings.
About this place
A townscape selected as a nationally Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, one of Kanazawa's three teahouse districts alongside Higashi Chaya-gai and Nishi Chaya-gai. Narrow alleys and thousand-lattice fronts continue, retaining Kanazawa's atmosphere. It is called Kazuemachi because Tomita Kazue's residence stood here in the Edo period, and restaurants and teahouses line the Asano River; it often appears in the works of Izumi Kyoka.
