Overview
A transverse dune field running from Kanazawa through Uchinada to Kahoku, averaging about 20 metres in height.
About this place
A parallel dune system developed along the coastline from Awasaki-machi, Kanazawa, through Uchinada to Kahoku. For sand control, black locust, Japanese black pine, silk trees and others have been planted, and the back shore has valuable beach plants such as Japanese rose and seaside violet. Parts of the dunes are used for fields and rice paddies, and the Ishikawa Prefectural Sand Dune Agricultural Experiment Station is at Osaki, Unoke-machi, Kahoku.
