About this place
A hot spring area in Ishikawa Prefecture, a short way beyond Kanazawa, made up of four hot spring towns: Yamanaka, Yamashiro, Katayamazu and Awazu. Yamanaka Onsen has purely Japanese inns and hotels along the gorge of the Daishoji River, has a history of 1,300 years since its opening, and was mentioned in a haiku by Basho. Yamashiro Onsen has the public baths Kosoyu and Soyu, and Katayamazu Onsen lies on the shore of Lake Shibayama, where the heat is not easily lost after bathing.
