Overview
Morioka's noodle dish. Based on cold noodles from the northern Korean Peninsula, it was first served at a Morioka restaurant in 1954.
About this place
A local specialty of Morioka, Iwate. It is said to have begun in 1954 (Showa 29) when Teruhito Aoki, from the northern Korean Peninsula, opened a shop in Morioka and mixed the taste of the spicy cold noodles of his hometown Hamhung into Pyongyang cold noodles. Made from wheat flour and potato starch, the noodles are very firm, and the soup simmered from beef and chicken blends with the spiciness of kimchi.
