Overview
A temple in Sanuki, the 88th and final stop of the Shikoku pilgrimage, where the circuit is completed.
About this place
Okuboji in Sanuki, Kagawa Prefecture, is Temple No. 88 of the 88 temples of Shikoku and the temple that completes the pilgrimage. It is on the east side of Mt. Yahazu, and a stone monument marking the 88th completion place stands beside the stone steps. Going underground from the inner worship entrance of the Daishi Hall, you reach the principal images of all 88 temples, where you can do the sand-stepping rite. Because it has long allowed women to worship, it is called the Women's Koya.
