About this place
A scenic spot of white sand and green pines in Sanuki, Kagawa Prefecture, also selected as one of the 100 Best Beaches of Japan, and Kotobayashi Park, part of Setonaikai National Park. It is said to have started in the early Edo period when pines were planted as a windbreak forest for Iwashimizu Hachimangu, and ancient pines over 600 years old and pines with raised roots continue for about 1 km. In summer it serves as Tsuda no Matsubara Beach, the largest in the prefecture, visited by 60,000 people every year.
