About this place
The oldest surviving theater building, built in the 6th year of Tenpo (1835) in Kotohira, Kagawa Prefecture. It was built as a permanent theater that also served as a lottery drawing venue. It was designated an Important Cultural Property in 1970 (Showa 45). Over four years from 1972 (Showa 47) it was relocated and restored at its present site. The Shikoku Konpira Kabuki Grand Theater began in 1985 (Showa 60). Admission is 500 yen for adults.
