About this place
Goshikidai is the collective name for a mountain mass jutting into the Seto Inland Sea across Takamatsu and Sakaide in Kagawa Prefecture, located almost in the center of the prefecture. It is regarded as a mesa (table-shaped plateau) in which broad flat surfaces continue across multiple summits. The name Goshikidai is said to derive from the ancient Chinese Yin-Yang Five Elements theory. There are peaks bearing the names of the five colors, Beni no Mine, Ki no Mine, Aomine, Kuromine and Mt. Shiramine, and since being listed on topographic maps in 1960 (Showa 35), it has been treated as the collective name of the mountain mass. Seen from a distance, the mountain's form is trapezoidal, spreading gently.
