About this place
Naoshima is an island in the Seto Inland Sea belonging to Naoshima Town, Kagawa District, Kagawa Prefecture. It is the main island of the Naoshima Islands, which consist of 27 islands large and small, and in ancient times was called Kamomeshima, Kamotsukushima, Machijima and so on; in the early modern period, together with Ogijima and Megijima, it was also called the Three Naoshima Islands. Located offshore of Uno Port in Tamano, Okayama Prefecture, it is a granite-covered island of hilly terrain with little flat land, about 2 km east to west and about 5 km north to south.
