Overview
A park in Nankoku at Saidani, where Sakamoto Ryoma's forebears lived, with Sakamoto Shrine in it.
About this place
The ancestral home of Sakamoto Ryoma in Saitani, Nankoku. Saitani is where the first to third generations of the Sakamoto family lived; from the fourth generation they moved into Kochi City and succeeded in business as Saitaniya. Sakamoto Shrine, which enshrines the Sakamoto ancestors, is at the back of the park, along with the graves of the second generation, Hikosaburo, and the third, Tarozaemon. Red and white plum trees, named after one of Ryoma's aliases, are planted, and the best time to see them is from mid-February to early March.
