Overview
Ice shapes made by Zao's hard winter. They form only where Aomori fir grows and a strong west wind blows.
About this place
"Juhyo" (rime ice), seen in the Zao mountains of Miyagi and regarded as the symbol of Zao. Created when conditions combine, with Aomori fir growing wild and strong west winds blowing, it forms only in limited areas such as Zao and Mount Hakkoda. You can enjoy rime ice fully at Miyagi Zao Sumikawa Snow Park.
