Overview
The Saito family, merchants who prospered from the Edo into the Showa era, gave their house and collection to the town. The shop storehouse is a registered cultural property.
About this place
Kura no Kyodokan Sairi Yashiki is a museum in Marumori, Igu District, Miyagi Prefecture. Sairi Yashiki is a museum converted from the residence of the Saito family, wealthy merchants who prospered for seven generations. Because successive Saito family heads took the name Saito Risuke, it is called Sairi. On its grounds of 6,535 square meters stand a total of ten buildings: one residence from its heyday, six storehouses, one stone bathroom, and two buildings newly built by the town of Marumori.
