Overview
A large marsh on the south flank of Mount Kurikoma, ringed by old-growth beech and known for day lilies from mid to late June.
About this place
Sekai Yachi Gensei Kaen, on the southern foot of Mount Kurikoma in Miyagi, is a large wetland on a par with Oze and Hachimantai. Surrounded by primeval beech forest, many alpine plants grow in clusters, and the day lilies (nikko-kisuge) are especially famous in mid to late June, blooming across the whole wetland. Walking along the boardwalk, you can see the summit of Mount Kurikoma.
