About this place
Takachiho Amaterasu Railway Co., Ltd. is a company in northern Miyazaki Prefecture operating a preserved railway using the abandoned line of the Takachiho Railway Takachiho Line. As of 2018, it operates about 5.1 km from Takachiho Station to Takachiho Railway Bridge as a preserved railway for tourism.
It was established in March 2006 as 'Shinwa Takachiho Torokko Railway' to take over the operation of the Takachiho Railway Takachiho Line, which was damaged by Typhoon No. 14 in September 2005 and which Takachiho Railway gave up restoring itself.
