About this place
A shrine in Takachiho. Revered as the head shrine of the 88 Takachiho shrines, it is said to date from the reign of Emperor Suinin more than 1,900 years ago. The main hall, with carvings based on local legends, is designated an Important Cultural Property along with a pair of cast-iron komainu. At the kagura hall, Takachiho Kagura is performed every day for one hour from 20:00, with a viewing fee of 1,000 yen.
