About this place
Negai ga Kanau Kurusu no Umi (Cross Sea Where Wishes Come True) is a scenic spot in Hososhima, Hyuga, Miyazaki Prefecture. Locally it had long been called 'Jumonji' (cross) because of its distinctive coastal scenery, but with the development of tourism resources, Ichiro Harada, who ran a minshuku in Hososhima, added 'sea' to 'Kurusu,' which means 'cross' in Portuguese, naming it 'Kurusu no Umi.' Afterwards, because the coast and reef look like the kanji for 'kanau' (to be fulfilled), the name 'Negai ga Kanau Kurusu no Umi' was officially established as a tourist spot.
