Overview
Strange rocks in Kobayashi, a pair standing together in the river.
About this place
Inyoseki is a strange rock of natural formation created by Kakuto pyroclastic flow deposits in the Iwase River (Hama no Se River) in Higashikata, Kobayashi, Miyazaki Prefecture, that looks like a married-couple rock (Meoto Iwa). It is also a Kirishima geosite of the Kirishima Geopark. At the suggestion of former Miyazaki governor Hideo Higashikokubaru, it was designated in 2009 (Heisei 21) a 'Miyazaki Prefecture Tourism Heritage' (natural heritage) 'Sacred Site of the Birth of Life.'
