About this place
Sannomiyakyo (Sannomiya Gorge) is a scenic spot in Kobayashi, Miyazaki Prefecture. In the upper reaches of the Hama no Se River flowing through the city, strange rocks formed by erosion of the welded tuff layer of the Kakuto pyroclastic flow, deposited by a catastrophic eruption about 340,000 years ago, stand out. In addition to Byobu-iwa, Senjo-iwa, Kappa-do, Yagura no Todoroki and other sights, downstream is Inyoseki, which was selected as a Miyazaki Tourism Heritage. The promenade has been selected as one of 'Japan's Top 100 Walking Trails.'
