Overview
A shopping arcade in central Nagasaki, used by townspeople for everyday shopping.
About this place
Hamamachi Arcade (Hama-no-machi Arcade) is the leading shopping street of Nagasaki, spreading across the Hamamachi area of Nagasaki, Nagasaki Prefecture. It is also called by the nicknames 'Hamanmachi Shopping Street' and 'Hamanmachi.' It is often cited as the place with the highest land prices in Nagasaki Prefecture. Because Nagasaki's urban area is surrounded by mountains, there are few large suburban-type stores, and while shopping streets in other cities have become shuttered streets, this is a shopping street that is bustling even by national standards.
