About this place
Tabira Cathedral (Tabira Tenshudo) is a church of the Catholic Diocese of Nagasaki and its sanctuary in Kotedamen, Tabira-cho, Hirado, Nagasaki Prefecture. Its formal name is Catholic Tabira Church, and it is also called Setoyama Church, after its location. It is designated a National Important Cultural Property. From the red-brick church standing on an open hilltop in the west of Tabira-cho, Hirado, you can see the Hirado Strait and the Hirado Ohashi Bridge spanning it, and it is often used as a subject for photographs and paintings.
