About this place
A church in the Goto Islands. Through the missionary work of priests who visited Goto after the ban on Christianity was lifted, Father Marmand built the first wooden church in Goto in 1880. The present brick church was completed in 1908 by Father Pelu and is open as a museum displaying the history of persecution and related materials. It was designated a prefectural tangible cultural property in 1974.
