Overview
A megalith on Nozakijima in Ojika, the sacred body of a shrine, with a view over the island.
About this place
A giant rock on Nozaki Island in Ojika in the Goto Islands, Nagasaki Prefecture. It towers behind the shrine building of Okinokamishima Shrine and has been called Oe-ishi since ancient times. There are many legends, such as the story that the deity Kamishima Myojin appeared on this rock. It is about 24 meters high to the top and about 12 meters wide, and offers a view of all of Ojika. Because of the steep mountain path, guided tours by local staff are recommended.
