Overview
A shrine in Iki. At low tide the approach appears and you can walk out to the island.
About this place
A shrine in Iki, Nagasaki Prefecture, on an island that is normally surrounded by the sea. Only for a few hours around low tide does the approach path appear from the sea, allowing visitors to walk to worship. It is sometimes called the Mont Saint-Michel of Iki, and because the whole island is sacred ground, there is a custom that not even a single twig may be taken off the island.
