About this place
Painagama Beach is a sandy coast at Nanseisato, Miyakojima, Okinawa Prefecture. Written in kanji, 'Painagama' becomes 'Minami-Nagama.' In the Miyakojima dialect, 'pai' means south, and 'nagama' is thought to be 'nagahama,' meaning a long beach, with the 'ha' dropped. Located along National Route 390, within walking distance of the downtown of Hirara, it is a place of relaxation for citizens and tourists. The number of users in 2013 (Heisei 25) was 55,300.
