Overview
A sunflower field in Miyaki, all yellow in autumn.
About this place
Sunflower fields can be seen every November in the Yamada district in northern Miyaki. Since 2025, residents and groups have taken over and nurtured an effort begun by the hilly and mountainous area association to make use of fallow terraced rice fields. The terraces are colored with about 100,000 sunflowers and bright red cockscomb, standing out against the late-autumn blue sky and the autumn color of the wax trees on Mt. Takatori.
