About this place
A 22 m waterfall at the southern foot of Mt. Kyusenbu in Tosu. Known as a sacred site since the Muromachi period, its name comes from a legend that mountain ascetics stopped here to wash their hands and purify themselves. Downstream, in a grove of cedars, there is a campsite and a free river pool, and the cold, beautiful clear stream is known as a summer retreat where river sculpins call.
