About this place
Nakatomi Memorial Medicine Museum is a historical and folk museum in Tosu, Saga Prefecture, operated by the Nakatomi Memorial Foundation (public interest incorporated foundation).
It was established in 1995 (Heisei 7) as part of Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical's 145th founding anniversary commemoration to pass on the history and culture of Tashiro medicine peddling to later generations. It transitioned to a public interest incorporated foundation in 2010 (Heisei 22). In 2016 (Heisei 28), tools related to the manufacture and peddling of Tashiro medicine were designated 'Saga Prefecture Important Tangible Folk Cultural Properties.'
