A village of kilns in Imari, in the valley where the Nabeshima domain's official kiln stood.
About this place
A secret kiln village in Imari, Saga Prefecture, which in the Edo period produced the porcelain Nabeshima as the official kiln of the Nabeshima family of the Saga Domain. About 30 kilns still preserve traditional methods. At the Meoto-shi no To, 14 Imari ware wind chimes ring, and their sound was selected as one of the 100 Soundscapes of Japan. A kiln market is held in spring, a wind chime festival in summer and the Nabeshima Domain Kiln Autumn Festival in fall.
