Overview
A gate at the entrance to Takeo Onsen, designed by Kingo Tatsuno; an important cultural property.
About this place
Takeo Onsen is a hot spring town in Takeo, Saga Prefecture (formerly Hizen Province). Lotions using the hot spring water are also made. Takeo Onsen Romon (Tower Gate), together with the Shinkan (New Building), is designated a National Important Cultural Property and is the symbol of the hot spring town. Both were designed by Kingo Tatsuno, for whom a completion celebration was held on April 12, 1914 (Taisho 3). Entering through the gate, there are the Takeo Onsen Shinkan, a museum, and the public bath and private baths described below. The Shinkan was a public bath until 1973 (Showa 48).
