A garden in Takeo backed by the cliffs of Mount Mifune, known for azaleas and autumn colour.
About this place
Mifuneyama Rakuen is a pond-strolling garden in Takeo, Saga Prefecture, and a famous spot for azaleas and autumn leaves. Its address is 4100 Oaza Takeo, Takeo-cho, Takeo. On February 22, 2010 (Heisei 22), the whole garden was registered as a National Registered Monument (Place of Scenic Beauty category) as the 'Former Villa Garden of the Nabeshima Clan, Lord of Takeo (Mifuneyama Rakuen).' It lies at the southwestern foot of Mt. Mifune (elevation 210 m), the symbol of Takeo. Mt. Mifune was so named because Empress Jingu moored her 'mifune' (august ship) there when she returned from subjugating Silla.
