Overview
A dune field on the Enshu coast in Hamamatsu, about 600 metres north to south and four kilometres east to west.
About this place
A sand dune spreading about 4 km east to west along the Enshu Sea, also called one of the three great sand dunes of Japan. In the early morning after strong winds, wave patterns called wind ripples appear on the sand surface, and at dusk everything is dyed orange. From early summer to summer, protection activities are carried out as it is a nesting ground for loggerhead sea turtles.
