About this place
Sagara Sun Beach is a shallow beach on Suruga Bay, stretching from Sagara to Hazu in Makinohara (the former Sagara Town), Shizuoka Prefecture. A row of black pines is planted behind it as a windbreak, and the sandy beach is wide with fine-grained sand. It is literally a beach of white sand and green pines, and every year from July to August many bathers come from inside and outside the prefecture. Sagara is also blessed with the bounty of the sea and mountains, but transport is limited to cars, by the Tomei Expressway and National Route 150 (there is no railway line nearby.)
