Overview
A castle site in Hamamatsu, the base here before Tokugawa Ieyasu came. A Toshogu shrine now stands on it.
About this place
A key strategic point from the Sengoku period that originally stood on the site of the present Hamamatsu Castle. It was a base fought over by the Imagawa clan, who aimed to conquer Totomi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, who invaded from Mikawa, and Hikuma Castle was absorbed into a corner of Hamamatsu Castle when Ieyasu began building it. Today the castle ruins have Hamamatsu Moto-shiro-cho Toshogu Shrine, enshrining Ieyasu, regarded as a power spot for fulfilling wishes for success.
