A shrine in Atami with a great camphor in its grounds said to be over 2,000 years old.
About this place
A shrine in Nishiyama-cho, Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture. There is a great camphor tree more than 2,100 years old with a trunk about 24 m around, and legend says that walking around it once extends your life, or that wishes come true if you walk around it thinking of them. At the open cafe Saryo Hoko you can enjoy sweets and drinks made with mugikogashi, and at night the great camphor and the bamboo grove are lit up.
