About this place
Kasadoshima is a crescent-shaped outlying island floating in the Seto Inland Sea (Suo-nada) off Yamaguchi Prefecture. Administratively it is included in Kudamatsu. The island's name is said to derive from a legend that 'the deity of Itsukushima placed his hat (kasa) here.' It is connected to the mainland by the Kasado Bridge (Langer truss bridge), completed in November 1970 (Showa 45). The whole island is included in Setonaikai National Park, and on August 25, 2019 (Reiwa 1), the Ports and Harbours Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism registered Kasadoshima as 'Minato Oasis Kudamatsu ☆ Kasadoshima.'
