About this place
Ichinomata Onsen is a hot spring in Ichinomata, Toyota-cho, Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture (formerly Nagato Province). It lies at the foot of Mt. Ichiigatake, also called 'Toyota Fuji.' The place name is written 'Ichinomata,' but the hot spring name is written 'Ichi no Mata Onsen.' It has a distinctive sliminess and a faint hydrogen sulfide smell. Hot spring critic Isamu Gunji bathed at Hogyoku Ryokan and gave a favorable evaluation [1]. At this inn and at Ichinomata Onsen-so (closed), besides heated flowing baths, you can also bathe in unheated source-water baths.
