A temple garden in Yamaguchi City, said to have been made for Masahiro Ouchi by the painter Sesshu some 500 years ago.
About this place
The Sesshu Garden of Joeiji Temple in Yamaguchi. Joeiji was built about 500 years ago by Ouchi Masahiro as a villa, and the garden is said to have been made by commissioning the Muromachi-period ink painter Sesshu. Garden stones are arranged in the image of Mt. Fuji and the three mountains and five peaks of China, and it is designated a national Historic Site and Place of Scenic Beauty. Sutra copying and zazen experiences are offered, and in autumn illumination is held around mid-November.
