Overview
A mountain in Koshu, with a maintained climbing path.
About this place
The mountain of Otaki Fudoson in the Isawa, Katsunuma and Nishizawa Gorge area of Yamanashi Prefecture. It is said to have been opened in 880 (Gangyo 4) by Kongaibo, who moved the Fudo Myoo from the south hall of Sanko-ji Temple. The hill behind has large and small waterfalls such as Odaki, Kamiarai-no-taki and Maedaki, and the historic scenery as a sacred site of mountain asceticism is well preserved. The area is a natural forest of fir and hemlock where Mitsuba azaleas grow in colonies, and it is a prefecturally designated natural environment conservation area.
