About this place
Amagoidake is a mountain with an elevation of 2,037 m in Hokuto, Yamanashi Prefecture. It lies on a ridge that branches north from the ridge between Kaikomagatake and Nokogiridake in the Akaishi Mountains. From near the summit, Kaikomagatake, the Hoo Sanzan and Mount Fuji can be seen. It is one of the 100 Famous Mountains of Yamanashi. The whole mountain is made of granite. It has long been a mountain of rain-calling belief, and rain-calling rituals were held near the summit. In these, rocks were dropped into the source of the Nagare River to the east to make the air tremble, and the power of this was meant to bring rain.
