Temple cherries in Yamanashi prefecture, flowering in spring.
About this place
The cherry tree of Hoju-in, a temple in Ichikawamisato, Yamanashi Prefecture. The temple was the West Pagoda Hall of Heishio-ji, which flourished from the Heian to the Kamakura period, and the tree in bloom is a 200-year-old weeping cherry. The first tree is said to have been planted by Muso Kokushi, and the present one is the sixth generation. It is at its best from late March to early April, and stands right in front of Ichikawa-Honcho Station on the JR Minobu Line.
