About this place
Arimatsu-Narumi shibori is a shibori-dyed textile produced mainly in the Arimatsu and Narumi areas of Midori Ward, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. Since its birth in the Edo period it has produced most of Japan's shibori products, and on September 4, 1975 (Showa 50) it was designated Aichi Prefecture's first nationally designated Traditional Craft Product. It is sometimes referred to individually as "Arimatsu shibori" and "Narumi shibori."
