About this place
Kiyome Mochi Sohonke is a Japanese confectionery shop with its main store in Atsuta Ward, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. It is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop known for 'Kiyome Mochi', an affectionately regarded souvenir sweet of Atsuta Jingu. Kiyome Mochi is smooth red bean paste wrapped in habutae mochi, stamped with a 'Kiyome' brand mark. The origin of Kiyome Mochi goes back to the story that around 1785 (Tenmei 5) a 'Kiyome teahouse' was set up near the west gate of Atsuta Jingu, where worshippers rested from the fatigue of travel before visiting Atsuta Jingu.
