About this place
Dogo Onsen Honkan is a public bath in the center of Dogo Onsen in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture. A modern Japanese-style building whose reconstruction was completed in 1894 (Meiji 27), it is designated an Important Cultural Property and is the symbol of the hot spring town. In the public bath rankings it is ranked a western yokozuna alongside Yudanaka Onsen Oyu in the east, and in March 2009 it was awarded two stars in the Michelin Guide (sightseeing) Japan edition. In 2009 it was certified by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as a "Modernization Industrial Heritage." It is selected as No. 54 of the Shikoku 88 Views.
