About this place
Minakami Onsen is a hot spring in Minakami-machi, Tone District, Gunma Prefecture. The whole area at the southern foot of Mt. Tanigawa is called Minakami Onsen-kyo, and this is its central hot spring town. After World War II it expanded greatly thanks to its good transport access and developed into one of the prefecture's leading hot spring areas alongside Kusatsu Onsen and Ikaho Onsen. In the "Joomo Karuta" it appears on the "mi" card as "Minakami, Tanigawa: Skiing and Mountaineering."
