About this place
Noboribetsu Onsen (English: Noboribetsu Onsen) is a hot spring in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido. Its existence has been known since the Edo period, and after hot spring inns were established in the Meiji period it became a health resort and tourist destination. It ranks near the top every year in the "100 Best Hot Springs of Japan, Overall Ranking" and is one of Japan's leading hot spring areas. The place name derives from the Ainu words "Nupuru-pet" (a river of deep water color).
