About this place
Higashiyama Higashi is the name of a district in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. It is an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, known as the Higashi Chaya District. It measures about 130 m north to south and about 180 m east to west, about 1.8 ha, and about two thirds of the 140 buildings in the preservation district are traditional buildings, with many machiya in the teahouse style built from the founding of the teahouse district to the early Meiji period. It is one of Kanazawa's main tourist spots.
